Board of Directors Duties and Expectations
To meet once a month to discuss and put together fundraising ideas, create awareness in the community of the foundation and our goals. To help facilitate the fundraisers by helping with venues, vendors, etc. to create a profit margin to make the events profitable. To establish a list of ongoing prospective donors. Sit on one of the executive committees to oversee and manage that particular Committee. It is imperative that the main board members oversee, analyze using the S.W.O.T. analysis for suggested projects, fundraisers, etc.

Committees
Fundraising
- Creating fewer, major events to make the best use of our time and resources and raise the most money. Preferably an annual event. Create planned giving, capital campaign events, and special events
- Create a Foundation Directory
Grants
- Need to write grants for the community grants through local lenders, casinos, housing, and government programs
Community Outreach
- Working with youth, disabled veterans e.t.c to create awareness for the foundation
Public Relations
- Develop a written plan for marketing and communication
- Create a PowerPoint for speaking engagements
- Set up opportunities for speaking engagements
- Newsletters to donors and prospective donors
- Web site (Keep it simple, easy to navigate, keep a prominent DONATE BUTTON, calendar of events – list of donors – update on progress – contact us – volunteers section
- Radio/TV/Print/ be newsworthy and invite the press, create a press kit
Strategic Planning
- Planning for the future of the homes, programs, funding, etc. Create job descriptions, the timetable for events, recruitment of volunteers
- Create a S.W.O.T. analysis of projects and bring suggestions to the main Board.
Ambassadors
- Be an extension of the Board to be the hands and feet of the Foundation looking for opportunities for additional people to work with us, looking for donors and future opportunities Mentorship
- Create a mentorship program to work with the kids in transitional housing.
House Maintenance
- Create a list of handymen, etc.
Developmental programs
- Create a membership invitation to join planned giving and recognition; society letter
- Create and analyze goals and objectives, timelines of future projects
Record Keeping
- Need a bookkeeper and a CPA to oversee income, expenses, donors, etc.

Development Team
- Developmental Processes and procedures need to be developed and outlined.
- Create a gift acceptance policy
- Create a Donor recognition policy; honor roll of donors, certificates, plaques, lapel pins
- Create a Membership for planned giving
- Create a Business support policy
- Create training, the expectation for volunteers, and recognition
- Create a solicitation letter
